flavors and foods. The fruit is highly desirable to wildlife as well as people, which makes this a great tree for food plots, wildlife habitat or food forest plantings. Persimmon is a versatile tree, it can handle a wide variety of soil conditions and will tolerate some shade as well, though it will produce best in well drained, fertile soil with full sun. Persimmons are dioecious, meaning male and female flowers grow on separate trees. A male and female are required to bear fruit. I offer unsexed seedlings and I recommend planting several to increase the odds of having both male and female trees. Persimmons are fairly easy to graft onto so grafting known female scions onto male seedlings is always an option. Bare root seedlings are at least 12” tall. Hardy in zones 5-8.
