Adapted to chaparral and woodland habitats, this hardy member of the carrot family (Apiaceae) is drought-tolerant once established and attracts pollinators, including native bees and butterflies. The deeply divided, lacy green leaves emit a strong celery-like scent when crushed—hence the nickname "wild celery." In early spring, it sends up tall, hollow stems topped with golden-yellow umbels of tiny flowers. A great addition to wildlife-friendly or low-water native gardens.
